News Articles > Browns | J. Lewis wanted to leave on his own terms
Published Sat Nov 7 12:49:41 a.m. ET 2009
(KFFL) Marla Ridenour, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis said Wednesday, Nov. 4, that he would like to leave on his own terms, much like former Browns RB Jim Brown. Lewis is planning to retire after the 2009 season, even though he has a year left on his contract. Brown walked away from football after nine seasons to make movies. Lewis said, "He left on his own terms . . . and I like that. When I came into this league, I modeled (myself) after Jim Brown and I always wanted to follow in his footsteps in everything he did. One of my main goals was to leave when I wanted to. My plans pretty much worked out the way I planned them 10 years ago."
